Bunkers for pellets
Pellet bins: what they are and what they are used for
A solid fuel boiler bunker is an equipment used for storing and loading fuel that is fed into the boiler using a screw mechanism. Such a device allows you to accurately, in portions, supply the required amount of fuel without damaging it.
The use of the hopper will significantly increase the duration of the boiler operation on one fuel load (more than 60 hours). The hopper also protects the fuel from moisture.
What types of fuel can be used
The main type of fuel for self-feeding solid fuel boilers is pellets - cylindrical granules pressed under high pressure from natural raw materials of plant origin. The raw materials for their production can be bark, sawdust, wood chips, other logging waste, agricultural waste (straw, corn stalks, sunflower husks, etc.).
The manufacturer of heating equipment Altep-Center offers to buy a pellet bunker and get rid of the need to regularly add fuel to the boiler. It can be either a large bunker for sawdust, wood chips, mainly used for industrial solid fuel boilers with automatic feeding, or smaller options for domestic use.
Main features
Bunkers for solid fuel boilers TM Altep are compact equipment, easy to use and install. The fuel supply system is equipped with a screw (spiral), which is located in the pipe leading from the bunker to the boiler.
When in operation, it captures the required portion of pellets and delivers them directly to the combustion chamber. The whole process is fully automated and does not require your intervention.
The volume of the bunker for a solid fuel boiler ranges from 0.3 to 20 (or at the request of the client). The period of autonomous operation of the boiler depends on its volume: an average bunker for a domestic boiler can provide a fuel supply for 3-7 days. Altep bunkers are also adapted for left and right-hand placement relative to the boiler.
The Altep TM boiler fuel hopper has a number of advantages:
- They are made of high quality materials;
- Modern powder paint protects the hopper body from corrosion;
- Tested for durability under load;
- Ergonomics - the possibility of different placement relative to the boiler;
- They are equipped with a lid that ensures reliable storage of fuel;
- Possibility of manufacturing hoppers according to individual customer orders;
- Ease of use.
Maintenance of the hopper for a solid fuel boiler
The bunker must be periodically cleaned of fine fuel residues to ensure uninterrupted and well-coordinated operation of the equipment throughout the heating season. For this purpose, the design of the Altep bunker with a torch burner in the lower part provides a special bucket where waste, dust, debris and fine fraction residues are collected.
Depending on the quality of the fuel, it needs to be emptied about once every two months (if the pellet is dry and of high quality, then this manipulation can be carried out less frequently).
At the end of the heating season, it is necessary to completely empty the bunker of fuel residues, clean the bucket and the grate located in the lower part of the bunker. We also remove the pellet residue from the auger manually. At the end of the season, the bunkers of solid fuel boilers with a retort burner type must also be freed from fine fuel.
