Knocking in the boiler water grates is a sign of localized overheating of water above the boiling point caused by poor water circulation.

What can I do to fix the problem?

• If a circulation pump is installed, increase its speed or replace it with a larger one.
• If a circulation pump is not installed, it must be installed.
• Change the way the boiler is ignited. When igniting, load less fuel and ignite more freely, i.e. with a lower temperature of gases in the chimney.
• Check the boiler installation for levelness. Deviations of even a few millimeters can increase or decrease the noise.

Knocking and shooting in the boiler can be caused by air that has entered the heating system or boiler, for example, due to improper filling with water.
